MARCAS CRÓNICAS: KENA LORENZINI.; Colección Fotografía Chilena

Santiago de Chile: Ocho Libros Editores, 2010. b/w and color plates, ports, facs., bibls., color pict. wrps. Item #95543

Kena Lorenzini has been a photographer since 1980. During the Pinochet regime she worked in the magazines "Análisis" and "Hoy", while collaborating with diverse national and international political and cultural publications. Meanwhile she created a collection of subversive anti-Pinochet pamphlets and photographed the "rayados", the mural graffiti against the repressive military regime that survived because of the obsessive graphic documentation done by the author during the 1980's. According to the author, the graphic memory of the rayados opened the "possibility that a chronic mark would erode the barrier that prevented freedom of speech, drawn in a wall or fragment of territory". The book comprises both registers (pamphlets and rayados) created during one of the most obscure periods in the history of Chile. Images are complemented with texts by author and artist Guadalupe Santa Cruz and historian and sociologist Carla Peñaloza.
