The book presents for the first time the correspondence of one of the most important 19th century artists, Juan Francisco González (b. Chile 1853-1933). These letters present an intimate portrait of the artist who comments on personages and periods of his personal life covering his daily relationship with his family (wife, children and brothers), the hard life suffered by the Chilean artists in France and some acute reflections on the artistic production, comprising a map of this period's intellectual world through the mention of names like Pedro Prado, Alberto Ried, Manuel Magallanes Moure, Enriqueta Petit, Gabriela Mistral and Rubén Darío.
