The book offers a review of the first 30 editions, celebrated in 2016, of the Design Award of the Brazilian House, the oldest and largest national award in the sector, with more than 600 projects contemplated. In order to stimulate reflection on the Brazilian design of this period, the book also has articles signed by three great researchers of the theme,. In his text, Braga gives a retrospective of design awards that preceded the MCB, inviting the reader to revisit the emergence of this profession in the country and think about the role of prizes for the segment. To assist in the understanding of design as a determinant of our material culture, Loschiavo contrasts the Brazilian conjuncture since the 1980s, when the Prize began, with the trajectory of our design in the same period. Man de Melo uses the sequence of posters chosen year after year to serve as the identity of each edition of the Prize for an analysis that begins in the graphic design expressed in this set and unfolds to the relations between graphic design and product design. In a timeline, the book also brings together the iconography of all the award-winning projects, providing an organized view of the broad landscape of national design that has gone through the Prize in the last three decades.
