Compilation of highlights from the vast intellectual production of the architect, Philip Gunn (b. Brazil). addressing various issues in the field of architecture and urbanism. Includes, concepts of the garden city movement are investigated in the light of discussions in the context of left-wing groups on urban reform. The work of Frank Lloyd Wright is analyzed considering the diffusion of Fordism and its impact on American society. The architecture of plants is investigated from the advancement of Taylorism and management of new working practices. The clashes between the urban models postulated by supporters of the movement of garden cities and the professionals linked to CIAMs are discussed considering the complexity of progressive urban agenda in the 1930s, involving issues such as the widespread image of the garden city for other types of urban settlements, the diffusion of institutional practices of urban planning, concern for the urban community, the consideration of regional, decentralization of population and industry as a new principle of territorial planning and interest in the figure of "new towns" and "satellite towns".
