The Brazilian photographer Alair Gomes (Brazil, 1921-1992) distinguished himself by the way he portrayed the male body. A new sentimental journey is the name of a long story he wrote in English, which mixes philosophical reflections in log-a trip he took to Europe in 1983. The images in this book were made along this journey. Gomes, photographs are a very unique implementation of male erotic imagination of classical sculptures. He employs the same kind of look he portrayed of muscular men on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, photographs that he exhibited with great success in 2001 at the Fondation Cartier, Paris. Unprecedented in Brazil, these images were first introduced to the public this year, and also at an exhibition at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, in Paris. The exhibitions were curated by photographer Miguel Rio Branco, who selected works for the book. ENGLISH AND PORTUGUESE TEXTS.
