This publication accompanies the exhibition "Francys Alÿs: Política del Ensayo" organized by Russell Ferguson and presented at the Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Casa Republicana, Bogotá, 27 of May to 17 August. First large-scale museum exhibition in Colombia devoted to artist Francis Alÿs' (b. Belgium 1959, has lived and worked in Mexico since 1986) eclectic work, in particular his Rehearsal (Ensayo) video installation series. The book analyses a larger part of Alÿs's artwork studying a significant number of important related works created throughout his career and that include documentary films, photography, videos, paintings, drawings, installations and performance inspired in his explorations of Latin American cities. Curator Ferguson comments that Alÿs describes his oeuvre in terms of "a sort of discursive argument composed of episodes, metaphors or parables, staging the experience of time in Latin America" - P. . Accompanying booklet is the Spanish translation of the book. ENGLISH TEXS AND ADDITIONAL BOOKLET IN SPANISH.
