Deluxe album by well-known "estanciero" sportsman, breeder of fine pedigree cattle and race horses and owner of the world-famous estancia "Chapadmalal. The "Chapadmalal" estate was one of the largest and most luxurious haciendas in Argentina and this edition represents a graphic example of the rich large concentrations of landownership in Argentina during the 20th century. The Martinez de Hoz family was the fifteenth-largest landowner in the province of Buenos Aires in 1928 (see Jacinto Oddone. "La burguesia terrateniente argentina", p. 186), with properties that represented 101000 hectares in the Mar de la Plata region. Mr Martinez de Hoz served for some years as Director of Banco de la Nacion, was a member of the Council of the Argentine Rural Society and President of the local Jockey Club. (See Solberg Carl E. "The Prairies and the Pampas: Agrarian Policy in Canada and Argentina, 1880-1930" -- Stanford University Press, July 1987, p. 63).
