Cecilia Mattos (b. Montevideo, 1961) left Uruguay to escape the military regime in 1975. She moved to California, finished her education and began her art career. In 1986 she moved to Buenos Aires and returned to Montevideo in 1990 where she continues to live and work. Much of the focus of her work is in creating artists' books.
