EL DESOREJADO: PADRE FUNDACIONAL DE CHILE. EDGARDO NEIRA
Santiago de Chile: Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, 18 marzo-24 abril de 2005. b/w and color platers, cat., illus., bio/chron., color pict. fldg. wrps. Item #82354
The topic that artist Neira (b. Chile) presents in this exhibition is inspired in a text cited by Gilberto Triviños in his book "La polilla de la guerra en Chile" about a Spanish soldier without ears that goes into the desert and eventually assimilates the Indian culture. This cultural confrontation is reflected in the artist's artwork when he mixes European artistic trends with Pre-Columbian elements, while the ear is a constant in all his large format paintings. Includes critical texts by Gilberto Triviños and Justo Pastor Mellado.
