Life and artwork of poet and painter Lozano (b. Argentina 1925), who in the early 1950's produced an extensive collection of paintings in addition to his work as a poet. His second poetry book "De Nacer o Morir" placed him as a well-known figure of contemporary literature in Argentina. In his facet as a painter Lozano's pictorial work has been dominantly pictographic, with planimetric scenes that recall Pre-Hispanic civilizations, particularly inspired by the Maya and Aztec codices. His paintings, drawings, prints and clays sculptures sometimes categorized as primitive art are better defined in a style that moves between figuration and abstraction due to the complexity of his strokes.
