Major monograph on the art of sculptor Mena (b. Argentina 1897 - 1954), a self taught artist who left a legacy of more than 500 wood carved figures inspired by the people of his rural home in the Chaco region. His carved painted figures combine the rual and the urban and are characteristic for their naïve and satirical personifications deformed with exaggerated heads, hands and feet, in a combination of figurative and abstract styles. This is the first major work on this noted artist. LIMITED EDITION OF 1500.
