This volume presents a selection of paintings, miniature paintings, drawings and sculptures created from 1810 to 1930 by artists in Colombian and are part of the Bank's art collection. The author, a recognized art historian and curator, reviews the evolution of art in Colombia from the beginning of the 19th century, when local artists traveled to Europe to learn new techniques, introducing open-air painting, portraits, large format landscapes to a period of nationalism and revalorization of the national identity. Some of the mentioned artists include: Epifanio Garay, Luis Garcia Hevia, Ricardo Borrero Alvarez, Manuel Doroteo Carvajal, Giovanni Ferroni and Francisco Antonio Cano and others.
