Monograph on one of the most important sculptors in Aguascalientes and Mexico, Jesús Fructuoso Contreras, issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death. He is the author of many important monuments and statues displayed throughout Mexico. Artist of the late 19th century, Contreras was awarded the Gran Premio de Escultura y la Cruz de la Legión de Honor de la República Francesa en la Exposición Universal de Paris in 1900. Contreras was founder of the group Ateneo Mexicano Literario y Artístico, group dedicated to promote the culture and Justo Sierra was it's honorary president, and some of it's members were: Jesús E. Valenzuela, Jesús Urueta, Luis G. Urbina, Amado Nervo, Federico Gamboa, José Juan Tablada, and many others.
