The Salon is the oldest one sponsored by the Brazilian state and was reformulated with this edition. Rather than publish a general catalogue, they chose to publish critical catalogues alongside the exhibition of works by artists who received prizes in the 15th and 16th salons: Augusto Herkenhoff and Christiana Moraes; Elyeser Szturm and Marcos Chaves, respectively. Augusto Herkenhoff (b. 1965) award was for the 1995 work "Remembering the '70s (Lembrança dos Anos 70)" as a metaphor of incomprehension based on Brazilian pop singer, Caetano Veloso's famous statement in the 70s " given to the jury and spectators in the packed Sao Paulo International Song Festival "You just don't get it". Critical texts cover the body of his other work. ENGLISH AND PORTUGUESE TEXT.
