Luiz Zerbini, born 1959 in São Paulo, Brazil, graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, São Paulo, in 1982. One of the leading contemporary artists in Latin America, Zerbini produces paintings, sculptures, and installations layered with images and references to art history and pop culture alongside or in combination with lush, textured landscapes, cityscapes and domestic interiors.   Zerbini has exhibited across the world and has represented Brazil at São Paulo Biennial (1987 and 2010), Bienal do Mercosul (2001), Bienal de La Habana (2000), and the Bienal Internacional de Cuenca (1996). The artist has had solo exhibitions at galleries and institutions in Brazil, Spain, Bolivia, France, Portugal, and the UK. Additionally, he has been a part of numerous group exhibitions across the world. In 1995 Zerbini won the grand prize of criticism in the Visual Arts category of Art Critics of São Paulo Association (APCA). His work is included in several notable collections such as Inhotim Contemporary Art Center, Brumadinho, Brazil, Itau Cultural Institute, São Paulo, Brazil, Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Modern Art Museum of São Paulo, Brazil.
