Aguilera is part of the second wave of avant garde Cuban masters who work is now being recognized. He studied in Cuba and at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Aguilera is an artist of the "multi-media object". Many artists of this younger generation of Cubans have found a home working and living (for at least part of the year) in Mexico.
