México, D.F: Arquine, 2023. Item #119041
Architect Alfonso López Baz (Mexico City, 1947) is a self-taught photographer who started taking photos when he was 15 years old. One of the founders and directors of Grupo LBC Arquitectos, he published 250 photographs, of which 51 were taken for the exhibition of the same name held from September to November, 2023 at the Museo Franz Mayer in Mexico City. This volume brings together reference works of modern and contemporary architecture that the architect's eye has captured through his camera, selecting moments, lights and spaces. Works by Tadao Ando, Herzog & de Meuron, Frank Gehry, Álvaro Siza, Teodoro González de León and many other outstanding architects who not only speak of the architecture of their authors, but also of the reading of "another" architect. The book will bring together more than 300 photos that, from the subjectivity of López Baz, offer a free panorama of the most outstanding architecture of the last hundred years. These photos will be accompanied by quotes or thoughts from prominent architects as reflections on architecture and life. In addition, the book will allow us to know a facet that until now has been little recognized, since it was somewhat overshadowed by his work as an architect, which has played a prominent role in the panorama of Mexican architecture.
