Ocumicho is a Purépecha town in the Mexican state of Michoacán where it is said that "the devil sticks his tail everywhere", he is a big nosy who goes from house to house, in the city and on the hill, murmuring temptations and weaving entanglements between the people of the world. This is how the devils, saints and sirens of clay that are modeled in this place, articulating agents of ideas and relationships that reach the most unexpected hiding places, also walk. This book refers to those trips made by the pieces created by the potters of Ocumicho, to the analysis of the social life of a type of work that moves between the creativity of the artists, the stories and images that inspire them, the stoves of their houses, the floor of the tianguis, the shelves of tourists and intellectuals, the pages of books, the works of other artists, public policies, markets, international galleries and ethnographic museums. We will focus on these pages on a type of sculpture in polychrome clay whose "tails" leave a trail that allows us to understand the complexity of the phenomenon studied.
