While publication states that it is a first edition this appears to be a Spanish language edition of the 2010 edition that was bilingual (English and Spanish). The 2010 editon was taken from the original 2000 first edition. This edition as the 2010 edition does not contain the illustrations that were in first original edition of "Sor Juana en la cocina" that was published soon after the discovery of a manuscript attributed to Sor Juana that included along a sonnet, a recipe book of traditional 18th century Mexican cuisine from the Convent of San Jerónimo. The book includes an essay by Monica Lavín on Novo Hispanic cuisine, followed by the period recipes that astronome Ana Benítez Muro (1955-2009) prepared and adapted to fit present measurements and cooking dealings. Some recipes include: Gigote de gallina, Manchamanteles, Turco de maíz cacaguazintle, Ante de nata, Hojaldrado, Alfajores, Jericaya, Torta del Cielo, Buñuelos de queso, Postre de nuez and Bienmesabe amongst others.
