Eloísa Cartonera is a work cooperative placed in the neighborhood of La Boca in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina who produces handmade books with cardboard covers purchased from the urban pickers ("cartoneros") who pick it from the streets. The editorial project began with the economic crisis of 2001, when both men and women lost their jobs and headed to the streets, where they met each other, and with the "cartoneros" (cardboard pickers). In the spring of 2003 they open an workshop at Guardia Vieja street. That was how Eloísa Cartonera was born. "Borders were made with carton bought to the cartoneros in the street"
