The serial is devoted to publishing original papers of scientific value in the field of environment and sociology. Published twice a year by specialized researchers from several academic institutions it publishes scientific work from international and national collaborators. This first number presents the conference papers presented during the II Encontro de ANPPAS celebrated in Indaituba (SP) in May 2004. Although diverse in content, all works reflect the environmental challenge faced for the 21st century and the trends on the relationship society-nature.
