The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Conservation is a compendium of visual and textual material compiled by the artist Esteban Rivera Ariza (Bogotá 1981) during the research process needed to make three videos during three years of work. Steno (based on the written work of Nicolás Steno, founder of Geology as a science), Die Versteinerten (an audiovisual connection between Cryonics as a procedure and monumentality as an attempt of ideological conservation) and Firmamentum Continuitas (the story of a cosmonaut who had clandestine interviews with Pope Paul VI to define the new boundary of the sky) form the trilogy that investigates immortality and preservation. From this point of view, and perhaps with insolence, science and religion are part of the same narrative genre that has been concerned with defining the world over time.
