First Edition. This is considered the most complete compilation of the prose of Moro. Cesar Moro was born in Lima in 1903. In 1924 he decided to leave his country and travel to France. There he had his first contact with the surrealist movement and discovered his love for poetry. He started writing poems and continued painting which was his first passion. He remained active in the surrealist movement of poetry from 1928 to 1933. Then he decided to leave France and go back to Peru. In Peru he lived for about four years. Those years of his life were very important thus they let him bring the surrealism bases to his own country. In Peru he shared his ideas with Emilio Adolfo Westphalen and together they worked to conform a surrealist group. In 1938 he chose to live in exile again, but this time he went to Mexico. There he found several of his old friends from Paris. It was in this period of his life that he produced a lot of his works. He wrote "La tortuga ecuestre" in Spanish and was an active participant with Wolfgang Paalen in organizing the Surrealist Exposition of 1940 in Mexico. Moro lived in Mexico for 10 years before returning to Peru for the last time. He is now considered one of the icons of Gay literature in Latin America.
