The present edition documents 40 years of artistic production of antioqueña artist Marta Elena Vélez (b. Colombia 1938), examining her continuous evolution as artist and the important meaning her independent and creative art have in her life. Her first exhibition presented her erotic series where she portrayed the act of lovemaking in a natural idyllic way. In the early 1990's she reaches her artistic maturity and her work transforms in dimension, media and technique with a series of paintings elaborated this last decade that reflect her free spirit and her conception of love, her work with textiles and the inspiration from grand painting masters like Rufino Tamayo, Pablo Picasso, Matisse, Mark Chagall, amongst others. Vélez is part of the group Los Once Antioqueños. The book accompanies a homonymous retrospective exhibition held in June 2008 at the Centro de Artes de la Universidad EAFIT.
