On the occasion of the centenary of birth of neo-concrete artist Franz Weissmann (b. Austria, 1911, immigrated to Brazil, 1921) and his profound influence in 20th century contemporary sculpture, the Pinakotheke launches a commemorative book and exhibition about his life, work and his correspondence with various artists. Besides the images, it also brings the correspondence with the poet João Cabral de Melo Neto and Murilo Mendes, and also with Amilcar de Castro, Lygia Pape, Lygia Clark, among others. These letters show the aesthetical theories of philosophy of Franz Weissmann. The works in the book were selected from three parts: Figurative works in drawing and sculpture; The path of geometric shapes; works created from the decade of 50, with emphasis on the vertical..
