Parallel exhibition to the 29th Bienal of São Paulo gathers sixteen relevant works by Gross (b. Brazil 1946) covering four decades of work.. 16 works created between 1965 and 2010 by one of the foremost installation artists in Brazil: Cristina Gross (b. São Paulo, Brazil 1946) who started her art career in the 1960's when she was only 14 years old and Brazil was living under the military regime. She is an artist with an extended and diversified production, both regarding support & painting, printing, stamps, installations, urban interventions, works with light, videotext, film & and the issues with which she works: landscapes, urban spaces, construction of forms of representation, image systems, art itselfThe exhibition included her site-specific installation, "Illuminarias-2010" (Illuminations-2010), made especially for the show and that consists in placing 66 "giroflex" revolving lamps (emergency lights) scattered across the facade of the Pinacoteca station, the same building occupied from 1940-1983 by the Departamento Estadual de Ordem Publica e Social (DEOPS) where flashing police cars and ambulances were a common sight. .
