A selection of highlights of articles and essays on art, artists and the art scene by journalist Luis Martins (Brazil, 1907-1981). Martins was a central figure in the São Paulo art world especially in the 1940s. He was a defender of modernism and the modern in Brazil and led a campaign that founded MAM. In these articles we find Lasar Segall, Portinari, Anita Malfatti, Volp, Rebolo and Tarsila (with whom he began living with in 1933). Published on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the museum.
