Urban history of the port city of Barbacoas (Nariño Department of Colombia). Germán Mejía Pavony comments "The author proposes that the city of Barbacoas developed a form of modern urban project, he presents convincing and affirmative evidence that indeed such a project was done and was able to give a contemporary air to this port city in river Telembí, in the middle of the humid jungle of the Colombian Pacific, supported with an exhaustive documentation integrated into the narrative. This demonstration requires us to review, not only our assumed concepts, but also our most profound perjuries about big and small, simple and complex, the modern and the antique." -P.14.
La apuesta del autor, al proponer en su hipótesis que en Barbacoas se dio forma a un proyecto urbano moderno, comprueba afirmativa y convincentemente que en efecto se puso en marcha tal proyecto, que alcanzó a darle un aire de ciudad contemporánea a este puerto fluvial sobre el río Telembí, en medio de la selva húmeda del Pacífico colombiano –apoyado en la abrumadora documentación que logra reunir e integrar a la narración–. Esta demostración nos sorprende. Lo importante, sin embargo, es que igualmente nos obliga a revisar no solo nuestros supuestos conceptuales, sino también nuestros profundos prejuicios respecto de lo grande y lo pequeño, lo simple y lo complejo, lo moderno y lo antiguo….
