The 5th edition of the International Biennial of Textile Art held for the first time in Argentina was an international event organized by the World Textile Art Organization that reflected the last decade transformations of the Miami based non-profit organization: a new name (previously Women in Textile Art) and the inclusion of male collaboration and participation. The event summoned all artists working in pieces or installations where textile fibers and weaving were used as means of expression. The result was an international jury selection of 102 pieces by artists Alexander Brett, Ursula Gerber-Senger, Maria Theresa Fernandes, Hau Ray Kok-man, Jurayeva Gulshat, Beatriz Schaaf-Giesser, amongst others that were exhibited at the Palais de Glace of Buenos Aires in the 5th International Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Textile Art. The event included the works by 19 international artists and the award of "Olga de Amaral" prize granted to Dra Ruth Corcuera (Argentina) for her academic contributions to Andean textiles. Includes essay "Desde lo textil: hacia nuevos territorios (Textile art: Towards new territorios)" by exhibition curator Florencia Battiti. ENGLISH AND SPANISH TEXTS.
