Major work on colonial art in Peru. The present edition is a testimonial of the restoration work done by the Fondo Pro-Recuperación del Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación (Pro Recuperation Fund for the Cultural Patrimony of the Nation) created by the Bank for the preservation of Peruvian artwork. Includes essays by noted art historians and is beautifully illustrated with exquisite color photographs the colonial paintings in Lima, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huánuco and Trujillo restored between 1983 and 1988. Includes texts by Jorge Bernales Ballesteros, Ricardo Estabridis Cárdenas, Luis Enrique Tord, Juan Manuel Ugarte Eléspuru, César Pacheco Vélez, Duncan Kinkead, and Fernando Silva Santiesteban. A larger format in 1989 in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Lima and the organization of a grand exhibition of Peruvian baroque painting held in Madrid in 1985.
