Book dedicated to 19th century family Valck, a dynasty of pioneer photographers in southern Chile founded by Cristián Enrique Valck that lasted almost 100 years and 3 generations, expanding the family business into the film industry in the cities of Concepción, Valparaiso and Santiago. Brothers Enrique, Fernando, Maximiliano and Jorge Valck mostly made portraits and "Carte de Visite for the German - Chilean society in Valparaiso, postcards reflecting the Republican identity of the 19th century and individual groups of Mapuche Indians (Aracaunos) that represent the first visual ethnographic record of the middle of the 19th century.
