Using various Pre-Columbian codex as a documental source, the authors research the role of women and how they were conceived in the Mesoamerican cultures, specifically in the area of the high Mixteca region in Oaxaca, Mexico during the Post-classic era (9th to 16th century). The book main themes focus on the mythical origin of 3 Mixteca heroines, a queen, a warrior princess and a priestess, and the divine attributes of the ideal woman represented in their goddess.
