Series of 76 documents concerning the Escobarista Rebellion of northern Mexico in the spring of 1929. Led by Jose Gonzalo Escobar "the Movimiento Renovador" attempted to remove President Portes Gil. These documents consist of circulars and telegrams (45) that the Presidency sent concerning the rebellion and contestations (31) that were generated by the Municipality of Ixmiquilpan. The dates range from March 9 to April 4, 1929. Some of the documents comment on the different attacks and positions of the armies allied with the government and those allied with the Escobaristas. Included are the nomination of General Plutarco Elías Calles as Secretary of War (Circular 57) and the intervention of General Lázaro Cárdenas.
