"Noticias para..." "An extraordinary volume of considerable historical interest. According to this pious author, Our Lady of Mexico, between 1808 and 1812, seems not only to have taken an active interest in the spiritual welfare of the faithful, but seems to have done her best to thwart the schemes of the rebels and republicans in the various provinces of Mexico. She set her face firmly against the spirit of Mexican independency...The pious political frauds contained in this volume must ever give it a prominent place among the books relating to the history of Mexican Revolution." Stevens, quoted in SABIN 19974. The engraved copper plate shows three different comets which appeared in Mexican skies after 1810. The work also contains notices of the death of Fray Joaquín Nolanos of Zacatecas in 1792, a curious event little documented in Mexican records. (See Diccionario Porrua, Vol. 1, p.644). Palau 72318 and Beristain I, 984. Note: Includes detailed accunt of Hidalgo's revolt, subsequent battles and Royalist final victory.
